We are fortunate to have a rich outdoor environment- including expansive grassy areas, a playground and sandbox in which we romp and play. Seasonally, we enjoy exploring wildflowers, meadows, orchards, a pond and looking closely at a variety of plants, trees, birds and other small creatures. All different types of seeds yield an array of plants that we start in the classroom and tend to in our Children’s Garden. Our close up examinations of items from nature including cones, shells and leaves, train us to be observers. We see the beauty in the detail and order of our created world. As we learn more about them we even make friends with our world’s smallest inhabitants, which might include: bees, ants, spiders, worms, snails and ladybugs. Each year we watch the metamorphosis of caterpillars becoming butterflies and celebrate with a special Butterfly Release Day.
